’He eats 1/2 cup of diet food per day in about 4 rations. We used to leave out a bowl for the whole day, but he would eat all the food in one sitting. He also eats his brothers food, so we have them eat in separate rooms. For exercise we try to play with him daily. We’d sometimes throw food across the room, It got him running lol. I think exercise makes a big difference It took about a year, and he is now at a healthy weight for his size. But he’s still obsessed with food 😂 I know it looks like his eyes changed color, but it’s just the picture’

my momma took me shopping, so that i could pick a toy
(she told me i could do it, cuz i been the goodest boy :@)
so when i saw this bunny sitting, lonely on the shelf
i rescued her, like I was, n i did it all myself!
i been so very happy since they brought me here to live
a home with them - my hoomans! they have so much love to give

’For anyone interested ~ Dakota is 10 months old and was rescued from a horrible breeder situation. The breeder backed over her mother when Dakota was only a few weeks old. He didn’t know how to hand raise puppies so all but two starved. Thankfully a wonderful rescue worked very hard to take the two puppies and raised them. The rescue however is in rural Oklahoma on a lot of land and the dogs aren’t socialized. She was fed with her sister who took the food and she was only 25lbs at 6 months old. Because of her lack of socialization, she has been terrified of people and we have worked really hard to socialize her by going to a store or dog park every day and doing training classes every week. We also sit beside her crate and feed her treats. Previously it has taken a ton of coaxing, and someone had to go to her crate for her to come out. The last two days she has acted like a normal dog.’
i'm only learning now how very great my life can be
i trust these frens who brought me here, n they are helping me
to grow to be a happy girl - so healthy, brave n strong
they're giving me the Home n care i needed for so long!
i don't remember much about what happened as a pup,
i didnt feel that anybody cared, as i grew up
but suddenly - new places, Everywhere! n i have found
my Favrit place of all -

’I've never seen her take to another animal. She actively hates other animals. This is our 3rd time talking in kittens and she's hated all the others. For some reason she is in love with this little man and they both cry every time I pick him up. This morning I picked him up to give him his bottle and I took him to my bedroom. She followed me and as soon as I put him down she picked him up and took him back to my daughter's bed.’

’She's a total sweetheart - super affectionate and totally connected with us. It's not abnormal for Australian cattle having a deaf dog in the litter. This is our first soiree in adopting a deaf dog and there is a lot of learning on both sides. Obviously can never be off leash or free hiking / biking with us and yes I relate to being bummed about her unfortunate circumstance but the upside is she was born this way so truly unaware of missing anything. And man can she sleep deep! I'm talking full rem restorative rest every time. Decided to post this because someone else posted waking their deaf pooch. Definitely need to be subtle in approach to not startle her but yes, the joy and excitement is the best validation! Just hoping that someone out there in a position to give a forever home to a deaf dog is not scared away by the effort. Like any other rescue, she rescued us and we're grateful. Thanks for your supportive comment - all the best!’

’Nothing makes me ugly cry harder than a disabled animal. Not because I feel bad for them, but because they are not limited and continue to live a full life. Dogs born with only three or even two legs? They can get around without it. No eyes? They don't let it stop them. Deaf? They just physically shudder with love and joy. If I had some of trauma like that all I can imagine is how reclusive I'd be. But dogs? Dogs dontet it get them down. It's now time to live life in a new way, but don't ever stop. Stronger than me.’

i went to see my father, with a little flag in hand

’Seniors are the best tbh , they love u unconditionaly - and im impressed by anyone who has the strength to help special needs pets - Mine was a senior and got blind and deaf , had the most wonderful time with him - hope u had a wonderful time with your cutie’
there's a beauty there inside them, but too many cannot see
an older, gentle wisdom, that will shine on you and me
some deaf, live in a silent world - they cannot see or hear
but they react with loving care whenever we are near
if you can find a place inside your home, and in your heart
